Just like the ‘selectividad’ Spanish University Access Test, U.S universities have their own entrance exam system. The exam has been in place since 1926 (with many changes) and uses reading comprehension, writing and mathematics papers to score the student’s aptitude.
The SAT exam is three hours long with another 50-minute essay added, with scores ranging from 400 to 1600. Mid-range colleges in the U.S will typically expect a minimum score of around 1300-1400, with Princeton entrants averaging a 1500 SAT score at the high end.
